FIFA 12 is the latest installment in the long-running soccer franchise. The game has been changed a bit, and some fans might say that it hasn't changed enough, while others will say that it has changed too much. It depends on how you play it. For me, some changes in key areas have been made, but there is still a lot of room for improvement. Most of the changes were made to the gameplay aspect of the game. Graphics look slightly better, but you probably couldn't tell the difference with FIFA 11 just by looking at a still image of the game.
This year, the game is played more dynamically. There are quick throw-ins that can let you surprise your opponent when they are well taken. These don't work all the time, but it is nice when they do. There is a new collision engine in place, which makes fighting for the ball a more realistic experience. There are problems with it, as well. Sometimes players collide and fall ridiculously. They even get tangled on the ground and can't stand up for a few seconds. This system also results in lots of fouls and body blocks. Another area of the game that feels different is shooting. The accuracy of finesse shots has been decreased, but it still is a fire-sure way of scoring when 1-on-1 against the goalie. This has to change soon.
Online play has been also improved. Now you play "seasons" against opponents and your score over time is kept so that you can brag about it, or not. The other game modes have also received minor fixes here and there. more
